What we offer

At Hummingbird Domiciliary Care, we provide a comprehensive range of care at home services. Our offerings include everything from light domestic tasks and meal preparation to accompanying clients on shopping trips. We also provide more intensive support, such as mobility assistance, personal care, and end-of-life care.

About Us

Hummingbird Domiciliary Care was founded by Sonya Dixon and Dagmar de Botton, who together bring over ten years of experience within the care sector. We first met while working for a small, well-respected local care provider in Welwyn Garden City. Both of us began our careers delivering care at home before progressing into office-based roles, supporting the business as Care Coordinator, Deputy Manager, and Quality Officer respectively.

Following the acquisition of the company by a larger corporate provider, we were entrusted with the responsibility of running and growing the Welwyn Garden City branch. During this time, we undertook a wide range of roles and responsibilities while continuing to work in the field, supporting both service users and care staff.

After several years working within the corporate care sector, we realised this was not the path we wished to continue. We wanted to return to the values that first inspired us to work in care — those of a small, local, and independent provider. This meant being hands-on in every aspect of the service, from meeting prospective service users and delivering home care services, to running the office and supporting our care team.

We have always worked closely with our service users, their families, and our carers to create a genuine ‘family’ environment built on honesty, trust, and transparency. Care is not a nine-to-five role; it is about ensuring that service users and their families feel supported at all times by a team they can rely on — carers who truly care. The strong relationships we have built over the years are something we are immensely proud of and were the driving force behind the creation of Hummingbird Domiciliary Care.

Costings

Overnight services

Sleep in

£23 per hour

Our care at home service by Hummingbird Domiciliary Care involves minimal contact from the carer with the service user, typically occurring only 1 to 3 times throughout the night. Please note that for home care services provided on bank holidays, a double rate of £46 will apply.

Wake in

£33 per hour

Where the carer can be expected to provide care at home for the service user overnight. Bank holidays for our home care services from Hummingbird Domiciliary Care are charged at a double rate (£66).

Check & Chat

Monday - Friday (week days only)

£10 (for 5 days)

We touch base with our service users via a telephone conversation once a day at their preferred time, ensuring that everything is going smoothly with their care at home. Most phone calls will last between 3-5 minutes, as part of our dedication to providing exceptional home care services through Hummingbird Domiciliary Care.

Monday - Sunday (7 days a week)

£15 (for 7 days)
